Objective RegWorks has been selected by New Zealand’s Ministry of Health - Manatū Hauora as the end-to-end solution for regulatory management across the health sector, commencing with vaping and radiation safety.
The Ministry works to improve, promote and protect the health and wellbeing of New Zealanders. As the leader of New Zealand’s health and disability system, it has a key role in administering, implementing and enforcing legislation and regulations. The Ministry’s goal is to improve and manage regulation so that patient health is protected while minimising compliance costs.
A common regulatory platform
After evaluating their current and future needs, the Ministry identified many similarities across the different areas of regulation they oversee. Seeing an opportunity to manage regulation in a more cost-effective way, the Ministry sought to find a common regulatory platform that could be quickly and easily applied to different regulations and requirements. Following a competitive, open procurement process, Objective was awarded the project.
The common regulatory platform will:
- Support new vaping health and safety legislation that was made effective in November 2020.
- Replace the existing system for radiation safety.
- Support other areas of regulation over the coming years.
Adapt to changing legislative landscape
The Ministry needed a flexible solution that could meet the needs of an always-changing legislative landscape. The desired outcomes include:
- A cost-effective, efficient solution that could be implemented across different regulators and requirements.
- A clean, consistent user interface for Ministry staff and users.
- Authenticated access from anywhere online.
- Role-based permissions for secure access to information and functionality.
- Easily configurable “no code” changes to reduce dependency on external suppliers.
Why Objective RegWorks?
Objective RegWorks offers a specialist regulatory solution that captures 25 years of experience in the regulatory field. It has the flexibility needed for the Ministry to rapidly evolve and be responsive, while also providing a 360 degree view of all entities, their relationships, their contact and compliance history.
As a true end-to-end solution, it includes a customer portal that will create a seamless customer experience for submitting forms, making payments and interacting with the agency online. With information fed directly into the back-office system, productivity will be maximised. It will help avoid the double handling of data, maintain data integrity and support wider digital transformation initiatives.
The Objective RegWorks Mobile solution will give Ministry officers the ability to efficiently and accurately capture information in the field. Officers will have intelligence at their fingertips, with easy access to any relevant information about a person, site or organisation when performing an audit, inspection or investigation.
The solution will securely integrate with internal corporate systems. With the addition of Objective Connect (integrated to Objective RegWorks), the Ministry will also have the ability to securely interact with external organisations to collaborate and share documents.
A long-term view
The initial five-year agreement was signed in March, with the option to extend for several years in the future. Work on the vaping regulations has already commenced, with a go-live planned for later this year.
Ben Hobby, Global VP, RegTech is excited to start our new partnership with the Ministry. ‘The combined teams at the Ministry and Objective have already come together so well, initiating a successful implementation path. All of us here at Objective are thrilled to be able to play a role in assisting Manatū Hauora to accomplish their mission of improving health outcomes for all New Zealanders.’
